managing 300 goats is a lot of work! been helping lou with fencing and watering the goats... the fences are pretty damn cool...super light wieght fence that rolls up and out without yo much hassle. its the hammering of all the posts that takes the hard work especially along the slopes of the damn face!
also been learning how to use water pumps and how to trailer with the 400 gallon water tank. each goat drinks about a gallon a day...
been working with goats and lou the goat lady this week. the herd is being used to control diffuse knapweed out by boulder reservoir...herd of ~ 300 goats along the dam faces where we can't mow and would take ages to weed whack! also 4 dogs to help herd them:)
got the idea from a menu card at sunflower market...tillapia over spinach with grapefruit avacado topping...mmm mmm good! in the glass, not near as yummy but super healthy...and i had to try it once...it was in a menu book a friend of mine gave me...raw celery soup...very interesting...wont make it again though!
clotheslined himself...a harrier fledgling about a month old. one of the only nesting/ breeding harriers in CO...makes it even more sad. He flew right into a telephone wire, snapping his neck:( But there are two more fledglings that are still alive and well.
last monday worked with the jail crew....that means lots of weed whackers! luckily the first half of the day was overcast and cooler than normal....

happened upon this guy who had spent most the day making and photograghing these rock cairns in boulder creek....so damn cool! mike is his name...and its a two day project! so im going back tomorrow!
took a break from company for a little "mary time"...much needed respite from constant interaction! hit up the farmers market, arts & crafts fair and ended up nestled away under an umbrella in the rib house beer garden for a lil journal time, live music, and of course some brewskies to keep me cool and refreshed ib0n the summer heat!

in big cottonwood canyon...spectacular views, three alpine lakes, ~7-8 miles round trip, ~2500 ft elevation gain...SO WORTH IT!
mazza middle eastern cuisine on 9th and 9th in slc...delightful reflective lunch before coffee date w brandy oliver! YAY!
allowing me the time to draw this little cartoon thats been in my head since my big boss man made the joke about the prairie dogs climbing the fence with harness and all:) funny enough...a prairie dog was actually observed climbing the dog park fence (sans rope of course) urging our crew to do passive relocation to keep them out and close the burrows theyd made inside the dog park...silly prairie dogs:)
